We believe that all optimization efforts are intended to accomplish two things:

  1. Make the page/site more useful for the site’s users;
  2. Make the context of the page/site more relevant for the search engines.

There’s a host of things that can be done to contribute to those goals, and some would argue that they don’t all fall within the traditional definition of SEO. But our philosophy is that anything that can improve the functionality and profitability of a website is worth addressing. And as consultants, it’s our responsibility to at least point out every possible area of improvement.

The intrinsic value of a page or website is the heart of its value to users, and by extension, to search engines. So that value must be obvious and easily consumed by both. The beauty of this approach is that it forces contextual relevance, which keeps value at the top of the priority list.

Amazingly, many businesses don’t look at their websites’ pages in terms of what value they provide consumers, but rather, in terms of the value they provide the business. This often creates a conflict that defeats any optimization efforts.

We’ve heard, ad nauseam, that content is king. Actually, while there’s a certain amount of truth in that, it would be much more accurate to say that context is king. The search engines – Google, particularly – are focusing more on authority. An individual or business (entity, by definition) can be considered an authority on a particular topic, just as consumers might perceive them as an authority.

And that is what we do at Intrinsic Value… we help you and your business’s website create that perception of authority in the eyes of consumers and search engines. How we achieve that varies from one situation to another, but the goal is the same – to become the preferred destination in whatever context is being addressed. We do it very well, and we’d like an opportunity to tell you how we’d do it for you.

Our Ethic

For many years before beginning in SEO, I worked as a business consultant, and we always adhered to the Code of Ethics of the Institute of Management Consultants. The tenets of that code are a pivotal part of how we do business. Their code is essentially the same in the US and Australia – please take a look – it states how you can expect to be treated, as a minimum.
